I’m an ethnographer/storyteller. I enjoy making sense of complex issues like migration, sustainable development, ethical communication, and organizing for social justice. I use tools like sense-making interviews, ethnographic research, focus groups, participant observation, grounded theory, and a range of analytical frameworks including discourse, rhetorical, feminist, and qualitative content analysis, to center lived experiences that are often overlooked in formal strategy and policy spaces.
I recently joined Davidson College as Associate Professor of Communication. Before this, I worked at University of south Carolina Upstate as an Associate Professor of Communication, the Director of Neurodiversity at the University of South Carolina Upstate, and as an Affiliate Faculty Member in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. I received my PhD in Communication Studies (Rhetoric and Public Advocacy) from University of Iowa.
