Teacher, Scholar, Culture builder

I’m an ethnographer/storyteller. I enjoy making sense of complex issues like migration, sustainable development, ethical communication, and organizing for social justice, through deep listening and critical reflection. I use tools like sense-making interviews, ethnographic research, focus groups, participant observation, grounded theory, and a range of analytical frameworks including discourse, rhetorical, feminist, and qualitative content analysis, to center lived experiences that are often overlooked in formal strategy and policy spaces.
I am an Associate Professor of Communication and the Director of Neurodiversity at the University of South Carolina Upstate. I am also an Affiliate Faculty Member in the Women’s and Gender Studies Program. I received my PhD in Communication Studies (Rhetoric and Public Advocacy) from University of Iowa.
Here’s my C.V.
